Sangath’s Dementia Home Care project addressed the needs of people with dementia and also their caregivers. It was designed and evaluated by The Dementia Society of Goa. The intervention won the Fondation Mederic Alzheimer and Alzheimer Disease International Prize for the best psychosocial intervention in 2010. Sangath, with the help of the Rotary Club of Crosby, UK, also launched The Dementia Home Care project in the South Goa talukas of Salcette and Quepem in September 2010, on World Alzheimer’s Day.

Through this project, Sangath raised awareness of dementia. Sangath’s home care advisors visited families to advise them on the non-pharmacological interventions that could potentially improve the quality of life of people suffering from dementia.
